What is forest bathing?

A wellness exercise done right with a guide

Forest Bathing is a slow wander in a natural place where we use all of our senses to experience what we discover around us. Forest Bathing, is good for both physical and mental wellbeing. It is proven to reduce stress hormone production, improve feelings of happiness and free up creativity, as well as lower heart rate and blood pressure, boost the immune system and accelerate recovery from illness.

How does it work?

The core scientific concept behind forest bathing is the use of phytoncides. Phytoncides are chemicals naturally produced by trees which boost immunity, raise sleep quality, and lower stress levels. These 'phytoncides' are readily available in the forest and forest bathing aims to help with the uptake of these chemicals from the surrounding environment.

Our Program

Our signature program draws inspiration from the principles of forest bathing and integrates well researched methodologies to facilitate measurable progress in stress reduction.

Why do guided walks?

Forest bathing isn't as easy as it sounds. It can be hard to keep focus on your own and our guides help you engage your senses and give structure to your walks so you can relax.

Where did it come from?

The ideas behind forest bathing are ancient but they were first codified into a technique in the 1980s. This technique, known as shinrinyoku is a step by step process that allows for relaxation which came to the United States in the form of forest therapy. Here at 'Forest Harmony' we combine the Japanese ideologies with concepts from india and native american culture in order to give a new and exciting experience.

Testimonials

Our young leader has done his "forest bathing" homework and provided our group with a meaningful morning of "invitations" to use our senses to experience nature anew.
